Weekly Meal Deals With The Meijer Ad #22

Do you have trouble planning your weekly menus?  Are you making what feels like the same meals every week?  Never fear!  We are here to help!  Each week (hopefully), we will have a great meal plan ready to go for you.

A few things to keep in mind:

Prices are based on the Sunday market sales ad

Meals are planned for a family of four- if your family is full of big eaters, you may need to buy extra

You can always adjust if you don’t like something we have planned

We are planning 5 dinners- for the last two days try using leftovers on one day, and maybe eating out on the last day.  Also, life happens, and you don’t always get to every meal.  Planning 5 meals works perfectly for my family.

Most likely, you will have some of these items in your stockpile already, so you will save even more!  This is a “from-scratch” list.

Black Bean Soup Over Cilantro-Lime Rice, and Salad

Use the recipe here for the black bean soup.  Use two of the cans of black beans. This recipe calls for seasoned black beans, which we don’t have.  I usually drain the beans and add in extra chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder.  Omit avocado.  Serve over cilantro-lime rice.  For the salad, use about 1/4 of the lettuce chopped small, 1 tomato, some of the celery stalks, 1/8 of the large onion, and half of a green pepper.  Save the other 1/2 of your lime for the burrito bowls (put in Tupperware).

Chicken Burrito Bowls, Tortillas, and Pears

Instead of spending more money on marinade ingredients, just sprinkle your chicken with chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder before grilling.  Slice thin and serve with your burrito bowls.  Base your salad on this recipe.  Follow the recipe on the rice.  For the salad part, swap onion for green onions, and use the canned corn and black beans here.  Use one whole green pepper for the salads.  Save a four pieces of lettuce for the egg salad wraps.  The rest can be used for the burrito bowls.  Serve with tortillas.  Slice two pears thinly and serve as a fresh side.

Egg Salad Wraps, Kettle Chips, and Orange Wedges.

Boil about 8 of your eggs.  Chop and add mayo, diced celery, diced onion, and salt and pepper.  Wrap in tortillas with lettuce and one of your tomatoes.  Serve with chips and half of the oranges, cut into wedges.

BBQ Chicken Legs, Grilled Corn, and Pears

We are going to save money on bottled BBQ sauce and make our own with pantry ingredients!!  Use the recipe here to make your BBQ sauce.  Grill chicken legs, brushing sauce on as you go.  Grill the corn next to the chicken as you normally would.  Slice the last two pears and enjoy a fresh, healthy dinner!

Cheese Quesadillas, Tomato Bisque, and Oranges

Make cheese quesadillas by sprinkling shredded cheese over one of the tortillas.  This is a great meal to use up leftovers.  Have leftover chicken from the bowls?  Toss some on. Have leftover onion and green pepper?  Chop those up and add as well.  Top with a second tortilla and heat in a skillet until brown and crispy.  Flip and cook another minute or until crispy.  Serve with the Campbells Tomato Bisque and the last half of the oranges.
